Review: J.Crew Cafe Capri in Pop Art Polka Dot

I love colored bottoms. Printed bottoms intrigue me, but when I try them on in store, I always feel so uncomfortable in them. I ordered these J.Crew Cafe Capri Pants in Pop Art Polka Dot to fulfill my free shipping quota last week, just out of curiosity:

    They're cute, right?

Here they are on me in 00P after a few hours of wear:

Accidental fold in the cuff after some experimenting, oopsy:

The color is navy blue with cream-colored dots. The exact measurements are:

    Waist: 26"
    Hips: 33.5
Rise: 7.5" from seam to top of pants.
    Inseam: 23.75" including cuff.

The measurements are bit deceiving. Fresh out of the bag, they *almost* fit my 32.75" hips perfectly. There was a bit of folding in the back probably due to being too big. I think with a little washing and shrinking, they would actually fit better. They fit slim to this hips and thighs, but have more of a relaxed fit starting just above the knee. They are made of 98% cotton and 2% spandex. There is some stretching out, but not as bad as my GAP Really Skinny Pants. The pants fit low, and the waist fits me, although I'm carrying a little bit of extra weight than I normally do at the moment (severe boredom at work + multiple 80-hr work weeks = almost certain weight gain, all to my mid-section, no less).

They also have a cuff so I can let this out about 3+ inches for some extra length, which I LOVE--it is such a rare find (as is, they are such an awkward length on me). They also have besom (welt) pockets, and two off-seam side pockets, although the pockets are smaller than average sized--I can't fit my entire hand in them. Overall, I think they are just the cutest bottoms I've purchased in quite a while. The regular price is $118, which is fairly steep, but I also was able to use my J.Crew rewards card against it, making it ~$93. Still on the pricey side, but colored (non-denim) bottoms have been such a struggle for me many times due to length, and the ability to let the cuff down on these is a huge bonus.  These are cute pants, and I could see myself wearing these for casual wear or even at the beach because of the looser fit (although, how often do I go to the beach??). If they actually fit slimmer to the leg, I might consider wearing these to work. Is a little DIY slimming or shrinking in order??  As is, the looser fit looks a bit *too* casual for casual Friday in combination with it's material. $93 is a bit too much for me for just "beach" pants. But shrinking and letting down of the cuff might actually do it for me so as long as shrinking doesn't cause them to loose a lot of length. I shall ponder it a while longer.

What do you ladies think? Should I keep and slim or return and wait for a sale?
